The Windham Southeast Supervisory Union (WSESU) has the administrative responsibility for the school districts in our southeast region; i.e., Windham Southeast School District (including the towns of Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, and Putney) and the Vernon Town School District in Vernon. All three entities employ staff. Employees of WSESU are the Special Educators and Central Office staff. Employees of WSESD work in the various schools, with the exception of Vernon Elementary School, whose workers are employed by the Vernon Town School District.
General oversight of the Supervisory Union falls to the Superintendent who is appointed by the supervisory union board. Each of our two districts has an elected board that establishes policy and presents the annual spending plan to the voters for approval. The Windham Southeast Supervisory Union Board has membership from both district boards, including five directors appointed as voting members.

Our Vision and Mission
Vision: All students of WSESU will thrive as engaged learners, critical thinkers, and compassionate citizens who are prepared to succeed in a diverse and changing world.
Mission: WSESU is committed to fostering equitable, high-quality learning opportunities for every student. Through rigorous instruction, data-driven decision making, and strong collective efficacy, we believe all students can and will achieve success. We work in partnership with families and our communities to nurture curiosity, resilience, and a belief in lifelong learning.

Our Community
Windham County is a vibrant community and a great place to live. WSESU works with a number of community organizations that help our students grow and learn. It takes a community to raise a child, therefore we rely on the help of our community partners to assist students and families in many ways.

Our Commitment
The teachers, administrators, staff, and board members of WSESU are committed to ensuring that diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice remain at the heart of our work. We consistently examine employment practices, discipline measures, curriculum, participation in school community leadership roles, athletics and extracurriculars, and professional development in the light of supporting and encouraging historically underrepresented and marginalized populations.
